Bio

I am completely horrible at self-marketing, but I am going to tell you a few facts in order for you to know what I have in mind - and so that hopefully you will see that I am serious and fairly capable... At this point, people in town only know me as a mother of four (as if that is not enough) because I don't talk much about what I do/have done in the musical arena...

I am a singer/songwriter that moved back to the East Coast, after being away for most of my married life.  We have been in the Pacific Northwest for many years.  Moving was solely to be closer to extended family (aging parents/my father with cancer etc...).  Since we moved into town, I have completely (and deliberately) thrown myself into getting our 4 kids situated/saturated in this community. The goal of comfortably settling them superseded (time wise) my other primary goal of getting into the local music scene here in VT.

As a singer/songwriter I am established enough that I get/have gotten flown around (Stateside and Abroad)  to sing on albums of others, and do live performances of my own work and the works of others.  My voice/range is not ultra-incredible, but people seem to like the sound of it, regardless, and apparently I have a knack for atypical (but correct) harmonies.  However, aside from some concerts/performances I have had outside of Vermont since our move, I have done very little in the way of local, public performance.

Over the years I have written a fair number of marketable songs, and have had other bands and companies record some of them.  My own Cd's are aired on radio, and my most recent independent CD (actually recorded in my living room, and mainly for copyright /mechanical licencing purposes) was picked up on outside recommendation by the largest distributor of it's sort, and is doing fairly well.

My main venue has been in the Christian Music Industry (am currently sold under the Vineyard Music label and with worshipmusic.com. ) However,  I have had the opportunity and privilege of singing/being recorded for many air venues including pubs, television/radio commercials, and MTV...

My goal (now that the kids are settled, and we are almost unpacked) is to get together with a few local musicians to play out. I would like some who wouldn't mind travelling on occasion (as I have been invited many places), but touring is not a goal of mine at this point.  (I have had that offer a few times before and turned those down due to timing).  I don't necessarily want to play out more than a few times a month, but will deal with that as the possibility arises.

In terms of what I am looking for, I don't necessarily need/want to end up with writers,  but I am open if the chemistry is there ...

I am most strong vocally and lyrically.  Although I can play piano and guitar (well enough for what I need to write and teach my pieces to others to play live), I prefer to be surrounded by good musicians (don't we all?)  but focus mainly on vocals...

Stylistically, I tend to gravitate towards Alternative, Folk-Rock, and Rock (and Rock only if backed by a great band and capable sound tech).  I also have done Jazz, Blues, and Country, etc - although not my preference...

Additionally - My long range goals include having more people record and perform songs I have written...So - Presently I am spending a couple days a week recording (MP3s on an H4) and registering (with BMI and CCLI) songs written over the last 15 years ...This is a bit of work data-wise, and I am eager to invest more time in the creative, spontaneous side of music...

Last, but most important to me: I am looking for people who put their marriages and family first, but people who like to play music as much as they like to breathe... The hope is that they know how (or at least desire) to balance these two loves...

If when reading this - anyone comes to mind who you think might be a good fit, would you be willing to put me in touch with them?

I deeply appreciate you taking the time to read the length of this letter/autobiography.  I sincerely hope it reads as 'reporting' rather than 'bragging'...  All said -  I am a pretty average person - who has had many privileges - and, frankly, I know I will need to earn my way in this town...

Thank you for your time, either way...

Sincerely,

Beth Wacome Keck
